Dental Staff

Dr. Donald J. Betar, Jr., graduated from Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in 1985 and from Juniata College in 1989, with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. In 1993, he received his Doctorate Degree in Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

Kayla received her diploma in Dental Assisting from the Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center in May 2015 and received her license in Expanded Function Dental Assisting in December 2015. She has been with Betar Dental since November 2015, in addition to providing great EFDA care, she is also utilizing her administrative skills at our front desk. Kayla is licensed by the state of Pennsylvania to take radiographs. She is also certified in CPR. Kayla enjoys shopping and spending time her dog named Ace. 

Dana is a 1990 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1995 graduate of the School of Commerce. She has 18 years of experience as a medical secretary. Dana joined our Betar Dental team in August 2021. She utilizes her extensive medical experience to ensure all of our patients' accounts are accurate and up to date. Dana lives in Altoona and enjoys spending time with her family.

Kayla is a 2007 homeschool graduate. She became a valued member of the Betar Dental team in April 2025. Kayla will warmly welcome every patient with a friendly smile at the front desk. In her leisure time, Kayla enjoys spending quality moments with her daughter and her dog, Snooki, as well as engaging in crocheting and crafting activities.

Mia is a 2019 Altoona Area School District graduate. She joined our team at Betar Dental in August 2025. Having over 8 years of customer service experience, she will provide an excellent dental experience for you with a bright smile on her face. In her free time, she likes spending time with her family, friends, and her two rescue cats named Millie and Monroe. She also loves traveling, thrifting, and shopping for vintage and antiques items. 

Mackenzie is a 2023 graduate of the Cumberland Valley High School and vocational graduate of the Dental Assisting program at Cumberland Perry Area Career & Technical Center. She joined our team in September of 2025. Mackenzie will assist you in finding the next available appointment based on your availability and you'll be satisfied every time. In her spare time, she loves reading, shopping, and being with her boyfriend Anthony, and her fur babies; two dogs and a cat. She is also a first time mother expecting a baby girl named Oaklynn! 

Shanna is a 2011 graduate of the Greater Johnstown High School. She joined our team at Betar Dental in November 2025. Shanna brings 13 years of experience in the health care field and 5 years of experience in coordinating surgery. Shanna will take care of all of your surgery scheduling needs with a smile. In her free time, she enjoys reading, working out and spending time with her daughter. 

Nandi is a 2017 graduate from West Virginia University where she received a B.S. in dental hygiene. She joined our team in August 2017. Nandi loves to educate her patients about the importance of their oral health. She utilizes her skills to ensure our patients receive the best dental care possible. She holds a local anesthesia licenses along with being CPR certified. Nandi was born and raised in Altoona and enjoys reading, working out, and shopping in her free time. She hopes to one day work as a international dental hygienist and to travel to countries in need. 

Derek is a 2019 graduate from Allegany College of Maryland. He joined our team in May 2020. Derek will provide a comfortable experience with his calm demeanor. He holds a local anesthesia license along with being CPR certified. Derek enjoys hockey, disc golf, anything outside, and spending time with his friends.

Kasandra received her diploma in Dental Assisting from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus in May 2010. She has been with Betar Dental since April 2018. Kasandra is licensed by the state of Pennsylvania to take radiographs and certified in CPR. She received her Expanded Function Dental Assistant license in 2020. Kasandra was born & raised in Puerto Rico and speaks fluent English & Spanish. Our office has a diverse patient base, and Kasandra's bilingual abilities make a pleasurable experience for everyone. She enjoys going on road trips with her husband, cooking Puerto Rican food, and painting her nails.

Madison is a 2014 graduate from the Altoona Area High School. She joined our Betar Dental team in May 2024. With Madison's 11 years of customer service experience, she will provide you with the best dental experience while visiting our office. During her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her daughter & friends, cooking & baking and attending baseball games at the Altoona Curve.

Hayliana is a 2025 graduate of Altoona Area High School and the Dental Assistant program at the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center. She became a member of the Betar Dental team in September 2024. Hayliana will be advancing her dental career by attending the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center in Spring 2026 to become an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA). She is licensed in Pennsylvania to take radiographs and is CPR certified. At the conclusion of each appointment, Hayliana will release each patient with a bright and friendly smile. In her free time, she enjoys spending with her boyfriend and friends and reading Colleen Hoover books.

Trinity is a 2022 graduate of Altoona Area High School and the Dental Assistant program at the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center. She became a member of the Betar Dental team in 2021 as a co-op student and rejoined us in 2025. Trinity will be furthering her dental career by attending the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center to become an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA). She is licensed in Pennsylvania to take radiographs and is CPR certified. At the start and conclusion of each appointment, Trinity will greet and release each patient with a bright and friendly smile. In her free time, she enjoys spending time her friends.
